Seasons Affect How Curly Hair is Managed

Anyone who has curly hair in the Sierra foothills know that the time of the year can change your curl pattern and styling.

This is true from slightly wavey to tight ringlets.

I call curly hair “the orchid of hair texture”. Just like an orchid, curly hair loves to be surrounded by mist in the air. Think Hawaii.

In Nevada County it can be very dry in summer and fall. Curls want to dangle without any spring. Clients complain about straighter hair they can’t manage. Hence the need to add in four things to curly hair care…

  1. Don’t over wash, only shampoo once a week with non sulfate shampoo
  2. Deep condition once a week, keep hair hydrated
  3. Use a curl product made for your type of curl
  4. Make sure your hairdresser understands curly hair so they can educate you on style and care.
